Founder’s Story

I am the founder of Pacco Healthcare, Hayzel Cheah, and my personal journey is at the heart of our mission.

Since 2010, I have been living with cervical and lumbar slipped discs, leading to persistent backaches that disrupted my daily life. The situation only worsened after giving birth. In 2017, my life took a remarkable turn when I stumbled upon Balance Walker, the transferable arch support. This seemingly simple product worked wonders, relieving my back pain and drastically improving my quality of life. This experience ignited my belief in the potential of ergonomic solutions.

With newfound passion, I pursued a course to have deeper understanding in human factors and ergonomics, subsequently became an Ergonomics Trained Person, a certification recognized by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH). Equipped with knowledge and dedication, I expanded Pacco Healthcare’s product range to include items designed to reduce back pain, alleviate foot discomfort, and enhance posture.

My mission is crystal clear: to advocate for an ergonomic lifestyle that empowers individuals to elevate their quality of life. Through Pacco Healthcare, I aim to provide people with the tools and expertise to lead pain-free, comfortable, and fulfilling lives.

Why Ergonomics?

The Science Of Ergonomics

“Prevention is better than cure” is commonly heard and said but, unfortunately, rarely practised. It generally means to stop something from happening or to avoid it altogether.

Ergonomics is the science of designing products, systems, and environments to fit the capabilities and needs of people, promoting safety, comfort, efficiency, and well-being.

However, the way humans use their muscles has changed very little throughout the course of evolution.

Instead, we see today a diverse range of work-related labour. Where emphasises varying, if not imbalanced, musculoskeletal motions. That often results in prolonged disorders, pains and discomfort that might lead to serious health issues.

That is why all of us need to understand ergonomics. And how to properly utilise ergonomically designed products to improve our physical function and productivity. Because a healthy body generally equates to better well-being and overall happiness.

Ergonomics Principles

However, people often neglect the practice of ergonomics for several reasons.

First, there is a lack of awareness regarding the importance of ergonomics and how it can positively impact health and well-being. Many individuals simply do not realize that their discomfort or pain could be alleviated through ergonomic adjustments.

Second, people are creatures of habit and may resist changing their routines, even if they understand the potential benefits of ergonomics. Sticking to familiar but non-ergonomic practices can be easier than embracing change, even when it could lead to improved comfort and productivity.

Lastly, some individuals perceive ergonomics as costly or effort-intensive. They may believe that implementing ergonomic changes in their workspace or daily routines requires

That is why all of us need to understand ergonomics, and how to properly utilise ergonomically designed products to improve our physical function and productivity. Because a healthy body generally equates to better well-being and overall happiness.

How Does Ergonomic Products Work?

Ergonomic products are tools that serve a specific physical function to aid different areas of our body. It stops your body from straining further or unnecessarily.

Anti Fatigue Mat

Anti-fatigue mats are fatigue-reducing mats.

TThey are ergonomically designed floor covers, typically made from rubber, carpeting materials, vinyl, or wood to absorb shock and relieve stress on your foot and lower limb. It aims to reduce exhaustion caused by a long period of standing on hard surfaces and spinal compression.

When standing, our muscles are tensed to counteract gravity, which also keeps us upright. So the longer your muscles remain contracted, the more pain you will feel. The pain stress causes our muscles to tense up further. It is our body’s natural way of protecting against injury and pain.

The stress will lead to more tightness, hence muscle rigidity. The adverse effects of muscle rigidity on your nervous system are immense and impact how they function. And the more issues it will cause to your overall well-being.

In the past, sitting has been the norm and you could barely find employees and business owners standing at work, except for cases where it is a job requirement.

However, this is changing fast as more and more people realise that sitting, while it offers some comforts, has been linked to a couple of some health issues that people face in the workplace today. AHA/ASA journals suggest sitting for most of your day increases risk for cardiovascular and diabetes. Not forgetting other negative effects such as back pain, fatigue, obesity, postural issues and so on.

Sitting too long is not good, standing too long is not good either. If you have to stand, get some ergonomic product to help.

If you stand while working, using anti-fatigue mat relieves your muscles from constant physical stress, thus improving blood circulation and reducing fatigue.

Issues with standing not only happen in workplace, but at home too
